Totilas dressage Legend retires. It was announced after a disappointing performance in the European Championships in Aachen. Totilas is the most expensive dressage horse ever and won several titles under the Dutchman Edward Gal, but after selling never could do its best level during his new rider Matthias Alexander Rath. Totilas was born in 2000 and became known internationally is ridden by Edward Gal. The spectacular moving black stallion captured the imagination of many dressage enthusiasts and Gal managed to lead the horse to the highest level. The combination won several big titles, and also as a world record. In Freestyle at the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky got the combination whopping 91.80%. Shortly after the world Totilas sold to the German rider Paul Shockemöhle and Matthias Alexander Rath was appointed new riders. A record amount of between 10 and 15 million, but the exact numbers are never revealed, counted down and Dutch dressage world was in deep sorrow for the loss of their miracle horse. Germany should now show up the horse and winning all the major championships, at least, that was what was widely feared.
Shortly after the sale first surfaced during Totilas, allowing Matthias Rath is not with their new asset in the beginning could come at international competitions. At the time, began the Schockemöhle also put Stallion for breeding. Straw of sperm was sold expensively, but athletic performance did little in the House.
At the same time the Dutchman Sjef Janssen was also married to Dressage Rider Anky van Grunsven, persuaded to work out the combination Rath-Totilas, to the disappointment of many Dutch. Behind the scenes they were working on a comeback and all hoped that the horse back could perform at the highest level.
Was eagerly looking forward to the 2012 Olympics in London, but came at the beginning and not Rath Totilas. Not by an injury to the horse, but due to illness of the rider. Rath was struggling with Mononucleosis and has not recovered in time to perform at their best. Also on the 2013 European Championship, the two were absent. At the World Equestrian Games in 2014, but also to Totilas wasn’t in the ring since he was hurt again.
In July 2015 after a short preparation for some minor competitions, the duo still came out once at the beginning of a great contest: European Championships in Aachen. After the Grand Prix, where the point far apart was the jury and the horse was clearly irregular, Totilas nearly had to pull out of the race.As it turned out, the results of the medical examination before the game to have been questionable, but was the main judge decided the horse still participate.
Even Rath in Aachen is allowed by the Grand Prix Special, where the fight was stopped and Totilas were brought to the clinic.
