Antivalores are negative attitudes that oppose what is established by the ethical values and moral values that regulate and guide the behaviors of people in society. The word, as such, is formed with the prefix anti -, which means ‘opposite’, and the noun value .
In this sense, the antivalores conform a series of negative attitudes, even, dangerous, that are opposed to their opposite pair, the values, and that do not receive the support of the society in general.
On the other hand, values are the principles of good work, of the path of virtue, of good, while antivalores are an inappropriate and incorrect way of acting. Hence, antivalores are associated with immoral or unethical behaviors.
The antivalores undermine the values on which our life is founded in society such as respect, tolerance, honesty, responsibility, loyalty, solidarity, generosity and gratitude, among others. Therefore, antivalores hinder good living, harmony and mutual respect, values necessary for social life.
Likewise, both religions and the different systems of ideological or philosophical thinking are governed according to the value systems, in order to avoid the practice of anti-values such as dishonesty, injustice, intransigence, intolerance, disrespect or irresponsibility, which are among the most serious.
When antivalores govern the behavior of a person, in general, we find a negative, cold and insensitive individual who does not care about others and, much less, the consequences that their actions have on others. Hence, the antivalores affect the lives of people in personal, family, school or work.
The antivalores dehumanize and degrade the person who professes them, so much so that he can receive a social sanction and, even in the most extreme cases, a punishment from the State.
